Time out Tuesday… On The Road

With MultimediaShooter down and out for the count, I haven’t been able to get my Koci travelogue fix in quite a while, which is harsh because it’s messing with my pre-trip vibe. See, I always watched some of those before a trip just to get me in the right mind set, but now those are gone. And I don’t have an MP3 player (yeah, yeah, whatevz) so I can’t even listen to some of my favorite “This American Life” episodes either.

So I’m gearing up to fly and drive from California to Florida for the Poynter Summer Fellowship and I’ve got nothing to get my creative juices flowing.

Luckily I happened across a road trip piece by Julia Robinson, a friend from SF State who also happened to be a Poynter Fellow last year and part of the reason why I applied this year.

Pretty awesome, and not at all cheesy as she was afraid it might be. Just the medicine I was looking for. Now… it’s time for me to get on the road…

Yup, once again, welcome to my latest post for #JCarn. The Carnival of Journalism is a loose collection of journalism thinkers (and people like me) who get together to post on their blogs with their reflections on a given prompt. This month I had the opportunity to host and asked folks to write themselves a letter. As it’s the end of the year, it felt like the right time to look inward. Plus we spend so much time looking outside of ourselves at the industry/government/tech trends/government that self-reflection becomes that icky no-no that we seldom tackle. Howdy folks, After trading some e-mails with David for the great reboot of #JCarn– we were trading prompt ideas and well, I’ll be your host for December. Oh how rude of me, I’m being such a terrible host, let me take your coat, come on in, wipe your feet.
